How strange this is, that I'd be sitting on my settee and Ian Lewis' name would flash before my mind. Finding anybody is so much easier these days with technology. Searching and finding that he passed since 2006 is not the kind of search result I had hoped for. Belated condolences to Ian's family and friends. I first met Father Ian Lewis on the Mount Allison University campus, in Sackville New Brunswick when he had been appointed as the visiting Chaplin. He'd come knocking on residence doors and I just happened to answer mine. All he wanted to know was if I knew Jesus and if I had accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour.
Subsequently, we had lots of chats about God, Jesus, people in the Bible, life, and I even remember attending church with him and his family one Sunday and remember how excited he was that the church where he preached had a black Jesus. Communication became sparce once I graduated and even though we met up once in St. Johns when I introduced him to my intended husband, we never stayed in touch. Memories of Ian remain his life's legacy. May he rest in peace.

To the Lewis family,
I had googled Ian's name a few times over the years, as he was a classmate at AST Halifax, and lived in the Pine Hill Residence. This was the first time anything came up. The photo is exactly how I remember him, and I thought I saw a newspaper photo years ago showing Ian as an orthodox priest.
Belated condolences to all of you who cared so much for Ian. I recall well his wry sense of humor which left me puzzled at times.
May the great God who bears and shares so much of his presence in our lives, even when we are unaware, keep your hearts and minds in memory of Ian who abides now in Christ's presence.
Sincerely,
1
