Obituary of Charles James Saunders
The death of Charles James “Ducky” Saunders of Fall River, NS, formerly of Grand Bay-Westfield, husband of Holly R. L. (Frees) Saunders, occurred on Monday, October 2, 2006 in Sackville, Nova Scotia. Born in Saint John on October 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Jack and Alice (McPhee) Saunders. Mr. Saunders owned and operated Phoenix Commercial Cleaning for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a great Philosopher and a studier of the Universe and enjoyed playing cribbage and billiards. Ducky was a loving father and grandfather and was an active part of his children and grandchildren’s lives. He will be sadly missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Kevin S. Saunders (Mary) of Grand Bay-Westfield, three daughters, Brenda Saunders/Todd (James) of Fall River, NS, Debbie O’Connor (Jay) of Saint John and Leslie Derksen (Walter) of Grand Bay-Westfield, two brothers, Frank Saunders and Gerry Saunders, both of Saint John, two sisters, Mary Jane Dalton of USA and Sharon Graves of Fredericton, 17 grandchildren, Krystal, Matthew, Korey, Allison, Jessica, Holly-Jean, Alexander, Julie, Caitlin, Vanessa, Charles (CJ), Zachary, Mitchell, Garreth, Spencer, Emma (Cassondra) and Bradley. Ducky also leaves behind three step-grandchildren, Jonathan, Sara and Christopher, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Ronnie, John, Cyril, Stanley and Donald and one sister, Lorraine. By request, there will be no visitation. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm, St. Augustine’s Church, Grand Bay-Westfield on Friday, October 6, 2006 at a time to be announced. Interment will take place at a later date. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated.
