Obituary of BERNEICE EVELYN DUPLISEA

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear Mother Bernice E. Duplisea (Gillett) on October 5, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Wife of the late Murray G. Duplisea of Willow Grove, N.B. Born in Hoyt, March 19, 1921 to the late Frederick J. Gillett and Lucille G. (Duplisea) Gillett. As a stay at home Mother she was dedicated to her life raising her 10 children. She was a woman of great courage and strength, which she passed on to us. She was a special mom to many, who loved her dearly, especially her niece Sherry McKay. Mom was well known for her great cooking and whom ever came through her door never left hungry. Mom loved to read and do puzzles. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and special friend Helen Stevens who predeceased her on February 15, 2006. Bernice is survived by her eight children, Sandra Olsen (Harold) Otter Lake, Helen Duplisea, Willow Grove, Karen Campbell Norton, Debbie Sherwood (Neil) Upham, Joseph (Catherine) Willow Grove, William (Frances) Mt.Middleton, James of Glen Falls and Robert (Judy) Grand Bay, son-in-law Robert Steele, Loch Lomond. Also survived by her 18 grandchildren, Pamela Dafazio, Anthony Moore, Michelle Moore, Michael Steele, Jeremy Duplisea, Lori Good, Chad Duplisea, Wade Duplisea, Troy Duplisea, Marc Duplisea, Justin Duplisea, Kevin Duplisea, Sheena Sherwood, Kyle Sherwood, Melissa Pollock, Nicole Duplisea, and Natalie Duplisea, 15 great-grandchildren which were the apple of her eye, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Murray, daughters Donna Steele, Nancy Duplisea, granddaughter Shawna Macumber and great granddaughter Lauren Macumber, daughter in law Carolyn Duplisea and son-in-law Kevin Campbell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by sisters; Myrtle, Stella, Bertha, Clara, Sadie, Helen, brothers; John, Hersey, Roy, Fred, Charles, Lorne, and James. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’ Church, Loch Lomond, on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at 11:30 am. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
