Obituary of Maurice M. Smith
The death of Maurice Marineau Smith of Rothesay, husband of 59 years to Victoria Theresa “Terri” (Curran) Smith, occurred on Monday, October 30, 2006 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Robert Wellington and Sarah Jane (McGuire) Smith. Maurice was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the Canadian Army in North Shore Regiment. He was employed with the City of Saint John Recreation and Parks Department for many years before his retirement. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Terry Smith (Victor Carvell), one brother, Lloyd Smith (Germaine) and Sister-in-Law Marion Smith, two sisters, Doreen Porter (Garnet) and Elsie Lawson, eight grandchildren, Colin and Krista Kelly, Andrew and Amanda Adams, Scott, Mark and Brent Curran and Nicholas Gandy, nieces Linda Adams (Glen) of Memramcook, Patricia Hopper (Barry) of Sussex, Brenda (Brian) of Nova Scotia, and nephew Robert Curran of Saint John. He was predeceased by one brother Earl. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 7-9 and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9. A tribute to a veteran service will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 2:15PM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Red Cross Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
