Obituary of Miriam Frances Monahan
MONAHAN (IZZARD), MIRIAM F. – Surrounded by her loving family, the death of Miriam Frances (Izzard) Monahan, of Saint John, wife of the late Frederick Izzard and the late John Monahan, occurred on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Hillsdale, NB, on March 16, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James Gerard and Mary Frances (Farren) McMackin. Mrs. Monahan was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and their CWL. She is survived by her beloved children, Elizabeth “Betty” Rourke (Vincent) of Saint John, Dr. James F. Izzard (Gail) of Rothesay, Carolyn Trainor (Dr. Charles) of Charlottetown, PEI, Ruth E. Izzard Allenby of Toronto, ON and Margaret “Margie” A. Monahan of Saint John, two sisters, Dorothy Fudge of Saint John and Margaret Sherwood of Hillsdale, NB, grandchildren, Dr. Keith Rourke (Dr. Margaret), Victoria “Vikki” Rourke-Abrar (Atayib), Dr. Bradley Izzard, Corey Izzard, Erica Izzard, Dr. Shannon Trainor, Charles Trainor Jr. (Alana), Matthew Allenby (Christine), Amanda Allenby and Derek Lamont, four great grandchildren, Evan Drummond Rourke, Mylah Abrar, Declan Rourke and Michelle Allenby, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, James, Michael, Tom, Patrick and Joseph McMackin and sisters, Betty Hodges and Anne Russo. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church on November 4, 2006 at 10 am. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to Alzheimer Society of Saint John or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
