Obituary of Alice M. Reed

The death of Alice Margaret (McCarthy) Reed of Saint John, wife of the late James L. Reed, occurred on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Truro, NS, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Johnson) McCarthy. Alice was a life member of the New Brunswick Provincial Chapter of the IODE and a past member of the Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club where she and teammates won a New Brunswick Provincial Championship. She is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Bill) Horne of Halifax, NS; one sister Midge (Andy) Lockhart of Calgary, AB; two grandchildren, Tracey (Kevin) Pettipas of Calgary, AB; and Kelly Horne of Bedford, NS; two great-grandchildren, Jensen and Reed Pettipas, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by one brother, Joey McCarthy and one sister, Anne Jacques. By request of the family there will be no visiting. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 2:15 pm from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424). In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
