Obituary of Gertrude Miriam Morrison
Morrison, Gertrude Miriam: The death of Gertrude Miriam (MacPherson) Morrison (age 88) formerly of 411 Ellerdale Street, Saint John, NB, occurred on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at The Church of St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home. Gertie was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Dawson of almost 61 years. Born in Saint John, NB, on October 31, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Ross and Florence (Perkins) MacPherson. Gertie had a great love for her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters; Judith (Wilmot) Owens of Saint John and Kathy (Brian) Meahan of Dartmouth, NS; two grandchildren, Jillian and Aaron Meahan; one special brother Ken and sister-in-law Margie of Calgary, Alberta; sister-in-law Lucy of Kingston Peninsula; several nieces and nephews. Gertie was predeceased by two sisters Grace Foley and Helen Lee and two brothers Boyd and Ross MacPherson. Gertie was formerly employed with the Telegraph Journal and was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed going with her dear husband Dawson up until her illness. The family would like to pay tribute to some special people; Karen Wilson (her special friend who was with her until the end), Linda Negus, Lisa Shillington, Nancy Campbell, Diane Doiron, Elaine Ellor, Nancy Nicoles and Betty Robins who were her devoted caregivers while she resided on Ellerdale Street as well as the nurses and staff at the Church of St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home whose love, care and compassion for Gertie is sincerely appreciated. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visitation on Saturday, November 11, 2006 and Sunday. November 12, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 2:15 p.m. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to Main Street Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
