Obituary of EVELYN R. HILDEN
The death of Evelyn Rachel (Dunphy) Hilden of Douglas Ave., Saint John, NB wife of the late Harold Hilden, occurred at her residence on Monday, December 4, 2006, surrounded by her family. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mabel (Cackett) Dunphy. Evelyn was employed by the Provincial Hospital as a psychiatric nurse then became the supervisor at the Dr. W.F. Roberts Hospital School for 26 years before her retirement. She attended Holy Trinity School, St. Peters School and St. John Vocational School, she was also a member of the Holy Trinity Church. Survived by her sons, Harold (Nancy) of NS and Arthur of Saint John; her daughters, Gloria Hosford, Doris McDermott (John), Robin Oldfield (Randy), Lindy-Lou Roy all of Saint John, Viola O'Brien (Basil) of NS, Frances Cunningham (Bob) of Toronto and Ruby Lee Day of BC; brother, Edward (Dina) of Saint John; sisters, Audrey of England, Thelma McMillan (George) and Theresa Roy (George) both of Saint John; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her special loyal canine, Rexy. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Vincent McLennan; sister, Florence Coyle and her brothers, Bobbie, Adolphus and Walter. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday from 7 - 9 pm and Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 12:00 Noon. Interment to take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Holy Trinity Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
