Obituary of Hilda Myrtle Wilkins
Surrounded by her loving family, the death of Hilda Myrtle Wilkins of Saint John, NB, wife of Ronald Wilkins, occurred on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Hazel (Izzard) Irwin. Hilda had been employed at the K-Mart fro 10 years before her retirement. She had been a former member of Coburg Street Christian Church and a member of Main Street Baptist Church and actively involved with the Friendly Fellowship Group and Harambee Missionary Society for over 50 years. Hilda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a giving person, always concerned with others needs. In later years she enjoyed her summers in their trailor at Pirates Cove, in the Belleisle Bay. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald; two sons: Brian (Debbie) Wilkins of Grand Bay-Westfield and Richard (Beth) Wilkins of Saint John; one daughter, Carol (Gerry) Long of Saint John; sisters: Lois (Pete) Donovan of Saint John and Norma (Dick) McAleer of Saint John; sister-in-law Joan Irwin of Saint John; six grandchildren; Carla (Christopher) Draper, Lindsay and Ryan Long, and Terra, David and Sarah Wilkins. She was predeceased by her brother, Don Irwin. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Main Street Baptist Church on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 2 pm. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Main Street Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
