Obituary of IDA G. McCOY
McCOY, IDA G.- Peacefully, after a brief illness, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, our wonderful Mom, Ida G. (Wilcox) McCoy, beloved wife of Gerald H. McCoy (Papa), went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 23, 2006, at the age of 78 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons; Wayne, Kevin (Myrna), Randy (Betty-Anne), Mark (Carri) and Darren (Valerie); thirteen grandchildren; Gerald (Samantha), Michael (Crystal), Mark Todd, William, Hailey, Ryan, Ashley Jane, Steven, Mark Kenneth, Riley, Kelsey, Kirstie and Richard; one great granddaughter, Ashley Marie, one brother, Carroll Wilcox (Neata) of Truro, NS, four sisters; Hazel Tidd (late Sherwood) of Kamsack, SK, Mary Doucette (Bev), Marie Wilcox both of Saint John and Alice Thorne (Murray) of Esteys Bridge, NB. Also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Kathleen Wilcox (late Leo) of St. George, NB, cherished mother-in-law, Laura (McCoy) Saunders, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Earle and Ethel (Leavitt) Wilcox, one brother, Leo, one sister, Lelia and very special brother-in-law, Sherwood Tidd. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB, she was employed in the food service industry for many years, making many friends. She was the Owner/Operator of the Trade Winds Restaurant and Ida’s Place for many years, prior to her retirement. The family would like to thank the following special people who contributed so much: Rev. Blair Ellis (The Rev.), Dr. E.V. Phillips, Dr. A. Cox, Dr. John Mowatt, the Doctors and the Nursing Staffs of 5CNorth and 3CNorth for their excellent and compassionate care, the special angels of Palliative Care, and two young people; Laurie (Garnett) Hoffman and Aaron McGlinchey, both of whom she was so proud of, and who loved her like a second Mom. There will be no visiting at Mom’s request. Graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors’ choice. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
