Obituary of David A. Hawkins
The death of David A. Hawkins, husband of Joan (Fudge) Hawkins of Saint John, NB, occurred on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on June 1, 1926 in Charlottetown, PE a son of the late Frank and Rebecca (Henderson) Hawkins. David had been employed until his retirement with Saint John Shipbuilding. He was an amature radio operator, his call sign was VE9DAD. David was also a member of the Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club. Survived by his wife, Joan; five sons: Robert, Donald (Deborah), Joseph, David and Stephen, all of Saint John; five brothers: Albert of Wilmount, NS, Victor of Maces Bay, NB, John, Arthur and Frankie of Saint John; one sister, Rose McLellan of Saint John; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three sisters: Grace McCullough, Carrie Landry and Elizabeth Power and two brothers: Jack and Leonard Hawkins. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At the families request there will be no visiting or funeral service. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
