Obituary of Robert C. McCaughan

The death of Robert C. McCaughan, husband of Leota V. (Tait) McCaughan, occurred on January 9, 2007 at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing (Liberty Lane). Born at Bally Castle, Northern Ireland, he was the son of the late Archibald and Margaret (Mason) McCaughan immigrated to Canada in 1924. During WW II he served with the Royal Canadian Service Corps. in the European Theatre. He was employed with the City of Saint John, Water and Sewage Department, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons; William R. and his wife Lynne of Langley, BC, Burton C. and his wife Christa of Kanata, ON, David M. and his wife Joanne of Salisbury, NB, Donald P. and his wife Peggy of Damacus, NB, daughters; Audrey V. Breen and her husband Charles of Saint John, NB, Helen Megarity and her husband Kendall of Gondola Point, half-sister; Florence Burley of Saint John, seventeen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His brothers William and Archibald and sisters Norah, Elizabeth, Kathleen and Anna predeceased him. Following cremation visiting will be held at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, at 1:00 p.m. from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
