Obituary of Wilfred C. Snodgrass
The death of Wilfred Carter Snodgrass, son of the late Charles C. and Estella (Sinnett) Snodgrass, occurred on January, 12, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, in 1929 Wilfred lived most of his life in Clarendon, Queens County, NB. He had served in the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, stationed at Wainwright, AB, and Gagetown, NB. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Wilfred was a life member of I.L.A. Local 273, having worked the Saint John Port for many years as a winchman and hatchman. He also worked as a crane operator on the initial Irving Refinery and later on the Refinery Expansion as a member of Local Union 946 Operating Engineers. He is survived by brother, Howard Snodgrass of Saint John, NB, sister Marion Pridham of Langley, BC, and brother-in-law Robert Apperley of Saint John, NB; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edwin and Donald, and sister Winnifred (Apperley). Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday, January 13, 2007 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2007 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2:15 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
