Obituary of K. Patricia Merritt
The death of Katheryn Patricia Merritt of Saint John, wife of Lawrence “Larry” A. Merritt, occurred on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Marie (Earle) West. Patricia graduated from the Saint John General School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Loch Lomond Villa, the Saint John General Hospital and Saint John Regional Hospital for many years before her retirement. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed genealogy but her passion was photography and had won many prizes for her pictures. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Robert Merritt (Angela) of Saint John, Peter Merritt (Gabriella) of Ottawa, ON and Craig Merritt also of Ottawa, ON, one daughter, Cathy Merritt of Saint John, two brothers, Paul West of Victoria, BC and Timothy West (Rose) of Winnipeg, MN, three grandchildren, Richard, Amanda and Rylan Merritt. She was predeceased by two brothers, Terrance West in infancy and Michael West Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
