Obituary of Agnes Cecilia O’Connor
The death of Agnes Cecilia O’Connor, wife of the late Clement “Oakie” O’Connor, occurred on May 25, 2007 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Robert and Antoinette (Stone) Finlay. She was employed with NBTel before starting her family and worked with various local firms as a switchboard operator when she returned to work. In her younger years she was an active CWL member and was well known in the Provincial bowling circles. Her greatest delight was looking after her family especially her grandchildren. She had a generous spirit and was loved by those she touched. She is survived by her daughters Susan Hough and her husband Brian of Bracebridge, ON, Joan McCluskey and her husband Charles of Grand Falls, NB, Ann Barrett and her husband Dennis of Saint John, her 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Being the last surviving member of her immediate family her 9 brothers and sisters predeceased her. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (364-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am from St. John the Baptist Church. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Federation of University Women’s Scholarship Fund through the Greater Saint John Foundation or a charity of your choice. www.brenansfh.com
