Obituary of Murray Lord Cairns
The death of Murray Lord Cairns, CD, of Quispamsis, husband of 58 years to Jean (Rushton) Cairns, occurred on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Saint John on July 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Marks) Cairns. Murray was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Korean Veteran’s Association and had been employed with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs for several years. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Ronald Cairns (Cathy) formerly of Saint John, grandchildren, Lindsay, Devon, Michaela and Ann (Paul), one daughter, Dale Martin (Bruce) of Quispamsis, grandchildren, Andrew and Alec and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 2:30 PM. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery Field of Honour. Remembrances to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Restorative Care Unit or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
