Obituary of Margaret. J. Devenne
The death of “Jo” Margaret J. Devenne of Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, Saint John, wife of the late Norman Devenne, occurred on August 19, 2007 at her residence. Born in Saint John, on December 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Moore) Hawkins. Mrs. Devenne was a Court Liaison Officer with the Department of Social Services for many years before her retirement in December 1986 and was an avid bingo player. She was a Veteran of World War II serving overseas with the CWAC and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Jervis Bay Memorial Branch #53. She is survived by one daughter, Elsie Sherwood (Les) of Quispamsis, daughter-in-law, Rosemary Devenne of Sherbrook, QC, five grandchildren, Chris and Melissa Sherwood, Andrew and Frances Devenne, Brent and Erin Devenne and two great grandsons, Mark Sherwood and Liam Devenne. She was predeceased by her son, Douglas Devenne in 1992. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10:00 am. Interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick would be appreciated. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
