Obituary of Nikoleta Pappas
The death of Nikoleta “Leta” Pappas of Kennebec Manor, Saint John, NB, wife of the late Peter Pappas, occurred on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at her residence. Born in Sparta, Greece on January 19, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis (Stevenson) Stavrakos. Leta was a resident of this city for many years and her family had operated the Riviera Restaurant from 1926 to 1985, also the Reversing Falls Restaurant for many years and the White House Lodge for a period of time. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Leta is survived by her son, Deno P. (Patricia) Pappas, Q.C. of Saint John, NB; three grandchildren, Peter (Jody), Deno (Kimberly) and John (Maureen), three great-grandchildren, Michael, Julia and Alexander, all of Saint John and a cousin, George Maniatis, also of Saint John. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; brothers, Angelo and George; a sister, Vasso Liakakos; and great-grandson, Nicholas. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) where visiting will take place on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 2:15 p.m. A private family interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemertery at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation of a charity of the donor’s choice.
