Obituary of E. Carolyn Land
The death of Ethel Carolyn (Goodeill) Land, of Saint John , NB , wife of the late Wilfred M. Land, occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Loch Lomond Villa Inc. Born in St. George , NB, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Nellie ( Wheaton ) Goodeill. Carolyn graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 as a Registered Nurse. She rose to Night Supervisor before retiring to raise her family. She was a member of the Saint John General Hospital Alumni. She attended All Saints Anglican Church.- Park Avenue. Carolyn is survived by two sons, David (Barb) Land of Barrie, ON, James (Mary Lynn) Land of Saint John, NB; one daughter, Ruth (Ronald) Cullen of Saint John, NB; seven grandchildren, Derek (Jacqueline), Alicia (Gord), Robert, DJ, Tara (Douglas) Barton, Kristin and Robyn; three great-grandchildren, Alastair, Carter and Dawson; several much-loved cousins, nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many dear and valued friends with whom she shared a smile. Mom considered her special friends, in Nursing and in Life: Marion McNamee, Leona Stewart and Alberta Crouse a true Blessing. Beside her husband and parents she was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick and Donald; one sister, Esther Akerley. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. www.brenansfh.com
