Obituary of J. Francis Shea
The death of J. Francis (Frank) Shea, formerly of Wellesley Avenue, Saint John, husband of Regina (McEvoy) Shea, occurred on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Centre. Born at Saint John, he was a son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Garey) Shea. Mr. Shea was a retired Detective Inspector with the Saint John Police Force, and was a Veteran of World War II, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Army. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Frank is survived by two sons, Garey Shea (Joan) of Saint John, and Donald Shea (Shelley) of Woodstock; three daughters, Elizabeth Lyons of Peterborough, Ontario, Laureen Shea of Toronto, and Barbara Shea of Toronto; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Laureen, Liam, Erin, Lauren, Aidan, Brendan, and Jared; and by several nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Shea; a brother, Donald Shea; and a sister, Barbara Doucet. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A reception will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home following the Mass. For those who wish, remembrances to Romero House or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
