Obituary of Hughena MacLeod RN
MacLeod, Hughena RN… The death of Hughena MacLeod of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Murdoch MacLeod, occurred on Monday, September 15, 2008 at her residence. Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton on September 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Theodosia (Novak) Stepaniak. Hughena was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish and the C.W.L. She is survived by two daughters, Murdena (Gerald) O’Brien of Kiersteadville, NB and Patricia (John) Fitzpatrick of Port Alberni, BC; three sons, Ted (Ruth) MacLeod of Kiersteadville, David MacLeod and Peter (Elizabeth) MacLeod, both of Saint John; two sisters, Rosalie (Gus) Carrigan of New Waterford, Cape Breton and Dorothy Orr of Saint John; ten grandchildren, Neil (Rachelle) MacLeod, Karen (Steve) Dionne, Jillian (Joe) Cronk, Tara (Curtis Thibault) MacLeod, Lesley (Derek) Latham, Erin O’Brien, Lori (Ryan) Henri, Heather (Cole) Horbatch, Kelly Fitzpatrick and Colleen MacLeod; three great-grandchildren, Niah MacLeod, Colin and Alex Dionne; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Murdoch; three sisters, Pologia Yost, Helena Nearing and Cecilia Stepaniak; and two brothers, John and Michael Stepaniak, and Great Grandchild Keeva MacLeod. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At the request of Hughena there will not be any visiting at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, Saint John on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 12 noon. A private, family interment will be held in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Holy Trinity Church Building Fund, Saint John Regional Hospital … Oncology Department, Extra Mural Program or any charity of choice.
