Obituary of G. William Rector
The death of G. William (Bill) Rector of Saint John, husband of Eva Margaret (Grafton) Rector, occurred on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at New Salem, Nova Scotia, on May 15, 1920, he was a son of the late Anthony and Greta (Orr) Rector. Bill was a plumber by trade, and was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the 1st Division 8th Army Royal Canadian Engineers in Sicily, Italy, Belgium, and Holland. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 14. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Bill is survived by his children, Girvan Rector (Dorothy) of Isle Aux Morts, Newfoundland, Clifton Rector (Linda) of Saint John, Pauline Dunham of Saint John, and Wayne Rector (Gisèle) of Saint John; grandchildren Krista Cameron, Dr. Tara Rector-Whelan (Matthew), Jason Rector (Melissa), and Marc Rector; sisters Clara Morrison of Sudbury, Ontario, and Evelyn Casey (Bob) of Moncton; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by brothers Clifton, Morley, and Oscar; and by a sister, Marguerite Tabor. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, all services will be private. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
