Obituary of Isabel Marjorie Godwin
The death of Isabel M. Godwin of River Avenue, Saint John, NB occurred on Saturday, January 17th, 2004, at her residence. Born in Derby, Northumberland Co., NB, she was the wife of the late Leonard E. Godwin and daughter of the late Perley Charles and Hannah (Parks) Bell. Isabel had been a resident of Saint John since 1940 and worked for twenty-five years as a matron in housekeeping at the Y.M.C.A. She is survived by three daughters, Eileen Veinot (Richard) of Brooklyn, NS, Lois Hewitt (Butch) of Lakewood, NB and Phyllis Campbell of Saint John, NB; two sons, Roland (Jeanne) of Saint John, NB and Gerald “Bud” (Anne-Marie) of Mechanic Lake, NB; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Pauline Sturgeon and brothers, Russell and Jack Bell. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21st, 2004 from Brenan's Chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
