Obituary of Kathleen Ada Smith
Miss Kathleen Ada Smith passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at her residence, the Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John, N.B. She was born at Saint John on November 16, 1910 to the late Neal and Mary (Dickinson) Smith. Kathleen was a school teacher at the King George and the New Albert Schools in Saint John, N.B. until her retirement in 1966. She was a member of the St. Andrew and St. David United Church, the United Church Women and the Retired Teachers Association. Kathleen is survived by her sister, M. Grace (Bud) Smith of Pierrefonds, QC and her brother, Dr. Norman E. Smith of Point Claire, QC; a special friend, Jackie Creamer; her nieces, Linda Laroche of Greenfield Park, QC, Kathryn Philion of Montreal, QC; her nephews, Donald Smith of Saint John, N.B. and Steve Smith of North Vancouver, B.C. and several great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Howard A. Smith; and two sisters, Gladys M. Alexander and Bertha M. James. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visitation on Saturday from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at Brenan’s Chapel at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Fernhill Cemetery at 2:30 pm on Sunday. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
