Obituary of J. Ronald Howard
Howard, J Ronald … The death of J. Ronald “Ron” Howard of Millidgeville, NB, husband of Muriel (Manning) Howard, occurred peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 9, 1923 he was a son of the late Herbert and Edith (Miller) Howard. Ron was a Commercial Artist and co-owner of Eastern Sign & Display Services Ltd.; as a member of Portland United Church he had served as an Elder and Steward and a member of the Portland Men’s Club, serving as treasurer with the Men’s Club and the Church Hockey League; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge NB # 22. Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two daughters, Beth Leonard (John) of Lorneville, NB and Joy Sawh (Norm) of Cole Harbour, NS; one sister, Colleen Howard of Saint John; five grandsons, Eric, Adam, Jack, Jed and Nolan; two step-grandchildren, Darryl and Mallory; several cousins, nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Eugene. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday evening from 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Portland United Church on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow in the church hall. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice of Greater Saint John or Portland United Church.
