Obituary of Marion F. LeMesurier
The death of Marion Farquhar LeMesurier, of Rothesay, New Brunswick, beloved wife of the late James M. LeMesurier, occurred on Monday, May 11, 2009 after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Leonard) Farquhar. Marion grew up in Saint John and attended Winter Street School, Saint John High School and the Netherwood School for Girls where she graduated from in 1943. She later attended McGill University and Mount Allison University where she obtained her B.Sc. (Home Economics) degree in 1948. She was then employed as a dietician for the Bell Telephone Company of Canada in Montreal. Marion met Jim après ski at Mont Tremblant; they were married in 1953 and they returned to Saint John in 1957 to raise their family. She was an active member of St. Paul’s (Valley) Church and a variety of other social and charitable organizations. After retiring to “The Farm” at Brown’s Flat, Marion spent endless hours in her garden with glorious results. She is survived by her sons James F. LeMesurier and his wife Holly and their children Anne and Ross, W. Andrew LeMesurier and his wife Linda and their children Emily and David and John G. LeMesurier and his children Garnet and Colin, her sister Margaret Henderson of Sackville, NB and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506)634-7424, visiting will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2009 between 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 4 Church Avenue, Rothesay on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11:00 am. A private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Jim Mowatt and Dr. Chris O’Brien and to the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during Marion’s illness.
