Obituary of James Joyce/Dever
Joyce/Dever, James Sanford – The passing of Jim Joyce, of Saint John occurred on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on March 12, 1937, he is the son of the late Walter and Mary (Dever) Joyce and the late Arthur and Geraldine (Murphy) Dever. Jim served in the Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of Peninsula Branch 62, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his children: Vicki Seely (Glenn) of Bayswater; Patti Knox (James) of Saint John; Michael Joyce (Nancy) and Wally Joyce (Carolyn Moore). both of Fort McMurray; David Joyce (Jennifer) of Saint John; his special friend, Mary Ross, of Saint John; mother of his children, Frances Blinn, of Saint John; siblings: Mimi Martin (Glen) of Texas; Joan Gagne of Montreal; Kenny Dever of Moncton; Judy Brand (Jerry) Florida; Ann McBride of Halifax and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by a son, Daniel Joseph Joyce; brother, Raymond Dever; sister, Karen Joyce, and brother-in-law, James McBride. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday, September 4, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5 at St. Pius X Church, 216 Somerset Street, at 10 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
