Obituary of Norma Ella May Thorne
Sadly missed by her family the death of Norma Thorne, wife of the late Ralph Thorne occurred on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. She was born on January 21, 1922 at Harvey, NB to the late Roy and Hazel (Phillips) Rowley. Norma worked for C. P. Rail as a office clerk during the winter months for many years, until her retirement. She was a former member of Centenary Queen Square United Church for 50 years and member of St. Mark's United Church. Norma was a kind and loving mother (all about her family) who enjoyed having all her children and grandchildren at her summer home in Westfield on the St. John River. She put others ahead of herself, never saying a negative word about anyone. Norma loved music, playing the piano and traveling with her true love, Ralph. She is survived by three sons: Kevin (Charlotte) of Westfield Beach, Malcolm of Alymer, PQ and Douglas (Cathy) of Westfield Beach; two daughters: Valerie Auvinen (Peter) of Woodmans Point and Shari Brodie (Joel) of Ottawa, ON; 14 grandchildren, Erik (Susan), Tiffany (Roy), Brittany, Lindsay, Natalie, Jamie, Alexander, Scott, Steven, Laura and Mallorie and mother Mary Courneyea of Ashley, Angela and MacKenzie; two brothers in-law: Gerald (Judy) and Donald (Mary) and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Westfield United Church, 133 Nerepis Road, Grand Bay-Westfield on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11 am. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Grand Bay-Westfield.
