Obituary of June Cecelia Mary Gagnon

With the heaviest of hearts the family of June “Grammy” Gagnon, best friend and beloved wife of Nelson Gagnon of 56 years are saddened to announce her passing on October 22, 2009. She was born in Saint John on June 1, 1934 daughter of the late Ada (McLean) and Hugh McIntyre. June enjoyed painting, story telling, writing poetry and short stories which led to the recent publication of her children's book, The Little Girl and the Big Bubble Gum. She enjoyed playing cards, clogging, square dancing, the Red Hatters, yard sales, spending time with her family and sharing her gift as a cook. June was an active member of the Cathedral Parish, served as an Eucharistic Minister and was a Life Long member in the CWL. June loved all living things and cared for the birds, squirrels and many strays that came by her door. June also spent many years cooking and caring for those in need. She volunteered for numerous organizations such as; Girls in Touch, The Knights of Columbus Squires and Squirettes, Tough Love, VON Respite Care and Independent Living to name a few. She is survived by her husband Nelson, 5 daughters Lynn Koumbias (Simon), Shirley Bruckschwaiger (Horst), Wanda Bruckschwaiger (Walter), Noella Newman (Greg) and Liza Gagnon (Jerome); 12 Grandchildren, Manual, Amy (Corey), Mellita (Mike), Melissa, Sacha (Patrick), Shawn (Arlene), Jessica, Kristian, Cecelia, Felicia, Brandon and Eric; 6 great grandchildren. Paiton, Riley, Taylor, Piper, Mattias and Liam, her brother Warren McIntyre and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents June was predeceased by her brothers Wayne & Phillip, infant sister Shirley and her nephew Dana. Her family wish to invite all her extended family of friends to share in celebrating her love of life. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sat. 7 … 9 pm and Sun. 2 … 4 pm and 7 … 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception , Waterloo St., Monday, October 26, 2009 at 12 Noon. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances can be made to the IWK or any charity of the donors choice.
