Obituary of L. Irene Jones
Laura Irene Jones of Rothesay, wife of Ernest (Ernie) Jones, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Kings Way Care Centre. Born at Gordonsville, Carleton County, on December 12, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Casper and Nellie (Stevens) Cheney. Irene was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association, Dominion Lodge #18. Irene is survived by two daughters: Lillian Totten (Lawrence) of Saint John and Nelena Donovan (Francis) of South Carolina; one brother, Paul Cheney of Gordonsville, NB; five grandchildren: Gary Totten (Brenda) of Barnesville, Pamela LeBlanc (Roger) of Saint John, Troy Donovan (Trisha) of Miramichi, Donna Lee of Saint John and Charlie Donovan (Phyllis) of Thunder Bay, ON; nine great-grandchildren: Katie, Mitchell, Craig, Ashley, Kyle, Erica, Anna, Austin and Violet and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her first husband, George Ernest Milbury, and two brothers, Gordon and Oscar Cheney. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel, on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the Kings Way Care Centre would be appreciated by the family. Irene’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Kings Way Care Centre for their professional care during her stay with them.
