Obituary of Paul Douglas Nickerson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend Paul Douglas Nickerson on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Paul was born to his loving parents, Leonard and Ruth (Walker) Nickerson, on March 4, 1951. Paul resided at 66 James Renforth Drive, Rothesay, NB. In his younger years Paul attended schools in Rothesay and began his career working as a cook in the Riviera and then at the DVA Hospital in West Saint John where he worked for seventeen years. Paul transferred to the Saint John Regional Hospital where he worked as a cook, a driver for Motor Services and in the Maintenance Department. Paul was loved by all who knew him. He had a great sense of humour and was a dedicated employee. His time spent at the SJRH later the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation were the happiest years of his life. He valued time spent with his colleagues and patients especially those at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Paul’s passion was woodworking and he spent many hours in his beloved workshop where he also shared the odd drink with friends. Paul is survived by his twin brother, Bill; his brother, Bob; special friend, Kathy Morrell; aunt and uncle, Dot and Jack Walker; three nieces; one nephew and several cousins. Paul was predeceased by his parents. Paul wishes to express his sincere thanks to Marshall Bourque, Extra Mural West, for his ongoing support, generosity and care. He also wants to thank Stephanie Fazan, Extra Mural West, for her kindness. Paul will be sadly missed by many friends and neighbors, whom he loved greatly. His best friend, Sheba, will go to eternal rest with him. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424, with visiting on Thursday from 11-4 and 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 2:30 pm from Brenan’s Chapel. Following the service, a reception will be held at 66 James Renforth Drive, Rothesay.
