Obituary of J. J. Denis Cyr
Surrounded by his family, the death of Denis Cyr, of Baxters Corner, husband of Donna J. (Rodgerson) Cyr occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, February 19, 2010 following a brief illness. He was born on January 7, 1947 in Campbellton to the late Walter and Emma (Dugas) Cyr. Denis worked as a welder and mechanic and had been a resident of Saint John for the last 55 years. He was a member of Local 946 Labourers Union, a life long member of the Iron Workers Union and the Buffalo Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved traveling in his motorhome and on his Harley Davidson. He was a great entertainer, with joke or story to tell, he loved to make people laugh. Denis was a wonderful family man. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Richard of Baxters Corner. Besides his loving wife, Donna, Denis is survived by one son, Denis J. Cyr; two step-sons: Charles Rector of Fort McMurray, AB and Bruce Rodgerson (Margo) of Saint John; three daughters: Kimberly Kirk (Robert) of Baxters Corner, Wanda Cormier (Jeff) of Quispamsis and Crystal Cyr of Saint John; two step-daughters: Laura Rector of Saint John and Sandra Gallagher of Prince George, BC; two brothers: Walter of Ontario and Lawrence (Connie) of Baxters Corner; sister Diane Cyr of Toronto, ON; 21 grandchildren; one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will held from Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rothesay on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 12 noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society and New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
