Obituary of W. George Foster
The death of W. George Foster, husband of Bernice (Smith) Foster, occurred at the Loch Lomond Villa on Thursday, April 8, 2010. He was born on April 1, 1930 at Saint John to the late George Joel and Hazel H. (Smith) Foster. George had been employed by E.S. Stephenson to A.V. Roe in Malton., Ontario and until his retirement with the city of Saint John. George loved to ski, skate, sail, and build boats. He built a 26’ Thunderbird yacht, several row boats and an ice - sailing boat which is likely still sailing in the Belleisle River in season. George was proud to have been one of the founding members of the NB Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists and received his 4o year membership certificate in 2008. George is survived by wife Bernice of 57 years, his son, Sheldon Foster (Patricia) of Quispamsis, NB; daughter, Joanne B. Mullin (Hal) of Caissie Cape, NB; sisters, Carol Matheson of Markham, ON, and Nancy Neil of Oakville, ON; grandchildren, Joel, Caitlin, Nathan and Trina Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his dear sister Katherine and Nephew Anthony Lordan. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday April 11, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday April 12, 2010 from Brenan’s Chapel at 12 noon. Interment to take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
