Obituary of Lawrence Edmond O’Donnell
Peacefully passed away at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. The death of Larry O’ Donnell, husband of Marie Anne (Caissie) O’Donnell occurred on Thursday, July 1, 2010 after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born on August 24, 1924 in Sussex to the late Philip and Katherine (McCole) O’Donnell. Larry served overseas as a Sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II. After the war, Larry was a master plumber working with Lloyd Mawhinney for many years. Besides his wife Marie of over 61 years, Larry is survived by six children: Gary (Christine) of Edmonton, AB, Sandra Mosher (Steve) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Bonnie McKinnon (Alan), Patricia King (Robert), Catherine O’Donnell and Marilyn O’Donnell, all of Saint John; three grandchildren: Corissa O’Donnell and Sabrina O’Donnell both of Edmonton, AB and Joseph James Shelley, Saint John Firefighter; great granddaughter: Violet Walker and several nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Charles “Buzz” O’Donnell, Leanard O’Donnell, Mabel Fisher and Alice Nystorm. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). At Larry’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish remembrances may be made to CNIB (Retinitis Pigmentosa) would be appreciated by the family.
