Obituary of G. W. Bill Marsden
Surrounded by his family, the death of Bill Marsden occurred at the Loch Lomond Villa on Saturday, September 4, 2010. He was born at Isle Aux Morte, NL on October 1, 1915 to the late George and Frances (La France) Marsden. Bill served with the Merchant Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #14. After the war, Bill worked with CN Railway and the Longshoremen until his retirement. Bill is survived by three sons: Roy, David, and Donald (Nancy) all of Saint John; two daughters: Anita Phillips (Larry Shannon) of Saint John and Carol Wright (Malcolm) of Quispamsis and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his first wife Edna (Doucette), second wife, Joan (Stead); son, Robert and sister, Effie Thorne. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A private graveside will be held in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish remembrances, to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Bill’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Loch Lomond Villa, Birch Lane for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
