Obituary of Jean Buchanan Braman Crowther

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Jean Crowther of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Tom Crowther, on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born in Saint John on June 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Christina (Richmond) Arthurs. Jean graduated from Saint John Vocational School. She began her career working for G.E. Leslie and then retired from Scotia Bond as an Executive Assistant. Jean had a life long commitment to Saint James Church in Saint John and St. Peters Church in Silverwood, she was very active in the ACW of both churches. During her later years she attended St. Paul’s Church in Rothesay. She volunteered with the Saint John YWCA in her earlier years and Theatre New Brunswick in her later years. Jean had a major involvement with the Fredericton Kindness Club for many years. Jean had a vibrant personality and was committed to family and community. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her four girls, Judy Braman-Comeau (Luke) of Saint John; Christine Benjamin of Quispamsis; Gloria Braman of Quispamsis and Royanna Braman (Wade O’Leary) of Big Cove; four step-children, Lynn (Joe) Rector; Rodney (Judy) Crowther; Holly Singh (Ken) and Heather MacDonald (Stewart); one brother, Frederick Arthurs (June) of Windsor, ON; grandchildren, Charlene Dalton (Keith), Micheal Comeau (Shelley), Luke Jason Comeau, Andrew Benjamin (Nikki), Jeffrey Benjamin, Emily Tompkins (Josh), Shelley Daye (Chris), Scott Daye, Matthew Savoy (Allison), Christopher Savoy and the Crowther grandchildren, Joe, Jonathan, Krista, Robbie, Jennie, Kay, Mark, Christopher, Eric and Matthew; several great-grandchildren; niece and nephews, Karen, Craig and Stephen Arthurs and several Braman and Galey nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother, John Robertson, two grandsons, Ernest Savoy and Jeremy Bemjamin, one nephew, Scott Arthurs and her godson, John Addy Galey. The family thanks all the staff of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home for the loving care of Jean. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon. Following the funeral service a reception will be held in the church hall. Interment to take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to Fredericton Kindness Club, the Alzheimer Society, Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home and the Chicken Noodle Club (St. John the Baptist Church) would be appreciated by the family.
