Obituary of John Herbert Brown Pipes
The death of John Herbert Brown Pipes of Saint John, New Brunswick, husband of Gillian (Cudmore) Pipes, occurred on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on March 6, 1951, he was the son of the late A. B. L. (Brownie) and Bertha (Barton) Pipes. John spent many years of his life volunteering with the Saint John Salvage Corps and Fire Police. He was also an avid supporter of the Saint John Empty Stocking and Goodfellows Fund, as well as the local SPCA. John graduated in 1970 from Rothesay Collegiate School where he received the award for Conscientious Service to the School. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gillian; one son, James and partner Melissa Smith of Saint John; sister, Carol Pipes of Dartmouth; his step-mother, Gail B. Kaye Pipes of Saint John; two grandsons Jaxon Smit and Deven Pipes; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, concluding with a short service of prayers and remembrance by Rev. Patricia Craig. For those who wish, remembrances to the Extra Mural Hospital Foundation, the SPCA, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
