Obituary of H. Lloyd Thorne
Surrounded by his loving family, the death of H. Lloyd Thorne, husband of the late Charlene (Simpson) Thorne, occurred on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Loch Lomond Villa. He was born at Saint John on April 11, 1939 as the only child to the late Haldane and Nellie (Pugsley) Thorne. Lloyd attended Saint John High School, after which he went to work for Canada Post until his retirement in 1988. He was a former member of Central Baptist Church, a current member of Kennebecasis United Baptist Church, a past president of the Dahlia Society, and a member of the Atlantic National Exhibition Association where he judged flower contests. Lloyd is survived by his son, Bruce (Kim); daughter, Kim Ferguson (David); and five grandchildren: Kate and Vicki Thorne, and Ryan, Curtis, and Sarah Ferguson. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 7-9 pm, and Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, June 10 2011 at 10 am. After the service, interment will take place in First Cambridge Baptist Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the church hall. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer Society or the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
