Obituary of G. Stewart Eugene Brittain
The death of Stewart Brittain of Rothesay, husband of the late Dawn W. Brittain occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, June 27, 2011. Stewart was born in St. Martins, the son of the late James W. and Florence L. (Verner) Brittain. A World War II Veteran, Stewart’s dedication to hard work served him well throughout his wonderful life. Creative and entrepreneurial, Stewart moved to Toronto where he worked as a shop foreman for J. Ingalls and Company. In 1958, Stewart returned to Saint John with his family and would form Automotive Services on City Road. It was a rewarding time for Stewart. He was able to do what he enjoyed so much: work and share his amazing stories with the many who would come to know and admire him. During his life of making cherished memories, Stewart used his skill of wood working, upholstery and in later years, baking and cooking, much to the delight of his family and friends. His positive and energetic outlook toward life all delivered with humour was endless and heartfelt. Beside his parents, Stewart was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Urquhart and brothers Arthur and Allison. Stewart is survived by his only child, James (Heather) of Rothesay; granddaughters, Haley and Allie;nephew, Gary (Lois) Urquhart of Saint John; niece Janice (Christopher) Waldschutz of Saint John; several great nephews, nieces and cousins. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to St. Paul’s Anglican Church or Rothesay Netherwood School would be appreciated by the family.
