Obituary of Robert Bruce W. Cobham
The death of Bruce Cobham, husband of Shirley (Spinney) Cobham, occurred on Tuesday, May 11th 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma Mae (Quigley) Cobham. He was a Harbour Pilot for the Atlantic Pilotage Authority until his retirement in 1978. Bruce was involved with the Knights of Pythias, Masonic Lodge Hibernia #3, Royal Order of Wharf Rats, the Royal Canadian Navy Association and the Canadian Merchant Navy Veteran Association Inc. He was a honourary member of the Merchant Service Guild and a member of the Federal Superannuates National Association. Besides his wife, he is survived by his brothers; Gordon Cobham, his twin brother, J.S. Burton (Helen) Cobham and Wilfred (Greta) Cobham, all of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers; Ronald Cobham and Frederick Cobham, and three sisters; Helen Cobham, Eva White, Gladys Rogers By the request of the family there will be no visitation. Following cremation a private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
