Obituary of J. J. Harley
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved brother Sonny after a lengthy illness on August 4th, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born at Saint John on October 9, 1937, he was a son of the late James F. and Mary (Lil) E. (Barry) Harley. In earlier years he was employed at M.R.A’s, Ken’s Spa and Joe’s Have a Snack, and also worked for several years at Flewelling Press, from which he retired. He is survived by one brother David, three sisters; Flo Lavine (Frank), Helen Slattery (Gordon) and Carol Frank (Walter), nephews and nieces; Barry Lavine, Joanne Peters, Chris Harley, Judy Slattery, Shara Brown, Suzanne Finnigan and Paul Douglas Burchill. Sonny is also survived by great nephews and nieces Ryan and Kristen Burchill, Kyle, Matthew and Daniel Slattery, Griffin Brown, and Tyler and Bailee Lavine. Sonny was a very warm loving brother to his family and also a very special uncle to his nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
