Obituary of Ethel E. O'Neill
Ethel Elizabeth O'Neill, wife of the late Richard O’Neill, passed away on August 6, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Ethel was born on April 15th, 1921 at Saint John to the late Ernest and Gertrude McNeill. The focus of Ethel’s life was her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life was full of wonderful moments with her family. Her strength and positive attitude during the challenges that life presents to all of us was an inspiration. She taught us all, but especially her family, the true meaning of quiet courage, and her final lesson to us, dying with grace. Mom’s legacy to her children was her abundant love and faith in God. Ethel is survived by her ten children: Sandra (Thomas) Moran, Patrick (Cindy) O’Neill, Peggy O’Hara, Mary (Brian) Didier, Kathy (Gary) Naves, Richard O’Neill, Ethel (Paul) Harrison, Martina (Art) MacDougall, Brian (Svetlana) O’Neill, Sean O’Neill; eighteen grandchildren: Pamela, Jennifer, Amber, Laura, Gary, Sean, Karly, Michelle, Colleen, Justin, Meghann, Christina, Trevor, Richard, Kathaleen, Dale, Scott, and Andy; twelve great-grandchildren Tayler, Camryn, Konnor, Madison, Carter, Aaliyah, Olivia, Parker, Abigail, Samuel and Lexi; special friends: Diane and Chris Hewitt; her dinner partners: Marion, Ethel and Sarah at the Loch Lomond Villa and her dear friend, Father Breen. She enters heaven to be with her loving husband Richard O’Neill, a wonderful son who was taken from her much too early Sean Peter, her parents, her five brothers and three sisters. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of 3C South of the Saint John Regional Hospital for the kindness and care shown to Ethel. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. John the Baptist Church, Broad Street on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. Private family interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Cancer Society or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
