Obituary of Jane Godwin
The death of Jane Godwin of Saint John, wife of the late Glendon R. Godwin, occurred on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Kings Way Care Centre, following a period of failing health. Born at Saint John on August 29, 1927, she was a daughter of the late George and Louise (Eckebrecht) Blacklock. Jane was an active member of St. James’ Anglican Church, Lakewood, where she was involved with the Anglican Church Women and the Altar Guild, as well as teaching Sunday School for many years. Jane also volunteered at the Loch Lomond Villa and at Hospice of Saint John, and enjoyed camping and cooking; but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her much loved grandchildren. Jane is survived by her children, Brad Godwin (Carolyn) of Saint John, Paulette Godwin of Quispamsis, and Kevin Godwin (Alison) of Fredericton; grandchildren Colin, Jocelyn, Daniel, Nicholas, Rachel, and Andrew; great granddaughter, Adriana; sister Patricia Kearney of Port Perry, Ontario; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Jane was predeceased by her sister, Marie McAfee; and brothers-in-law John McAfee and Bruce Kearney. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, with visiting on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM at St. James’ Anglican Church, 2000 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
