Obituary of Muriel Winnifred Saunders
Muriel Winnifred Saunders, passed away peacefully, June 4, 2012 in Saint John. Born April 24, 1915 in Campbellton, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Lillian (Currie) Carpenter. Muriel was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. She loved playing bingo and shopping trips to Calais, Maine. Muriel received a commemorative medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canada, in recognition of significant contributions to community and country. She is survived by her children: Wesley Saunders, Rothesay; Kathleen (Raymond) Cromwell, Quispamsis; brother, Murray Carpenter (Doris), Rothesay; grandchildren: Kellie Cromwell, Quispamsis, Traci (Brian) Paré, Quispamsis, Michael (Kathy) Cromwell, Sarnia ON, Kevin Saunders, Rothesay, Michelle (Charlie) Rogers, Waasis, and Christopher Saunders, Grand Bay; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack"; brothers: Howard, William and George; sisters: Isabelle, Doris and Audrey and daughter-in-law, Sandra. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Gondola Point. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
