Obituary of Patricia Arlington Ganong Bassen

Bassen, Patricia Arlington Ganong - The death of Patricia Arlington Ganong Bassen of Saint John, NB, beloved wife of the late Milton I. (Mickey) Bassen, occurred peacefully at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre, on August 16, 2012. Born on December 3, 1918 in England, she was the oldest child of the late Lieut. Col. Arlington and Sadie (Keirstead) Ganong. She worked for CP Rail (Saint John and Montréal) and Irving Ship Building. She loved to show her dogs and horses and won many awards in New Brunswick. Patricia and Mickey enjoyed a wonderful life with their dogs and had several wonderful trips. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed summers up on Snider Mountain and Keirstead Mountain with her grandfather and family. In later years she enjoy going for drives with her caregivers to visit Keirstead Mountain and Snider Mountain. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother, Don Ganong and his wife, Althea. Patricia is survived by her two nephews: Garfield (Cheryl) Ganong of Calgary and Dawson (Marlena) of Georgia; sister-in-law, Helen Schneeberg; friends: Linda Jarvis, Betty Cameron, George Dingee and the Farren Family. A special thank you to her caregivers, the Chateau de Champlain and the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre for the wonderful care they provided over the years. In keeping with Patricia’s wishes there will be no formal visitation. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Donations may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
