Obituary of F. Ronald Connell
The unexpected passing of Ron Connell occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, October 8, 2012. He was born on May 21, 1930 in Saint John to the late William and Bessie (McElman) Connell. Ron served in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Black Watch. He worked for Saint John Shipbuilding for many years until his retirement. Ron was a member of the Buffalo Club and the RCL Branch #53 Jervis Bay. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ron is survived by his seven children: Robert (June), William (Sharon), Deborah McGaghey, Brenda Arsenault (Paul), Carol Connell, John (Laura) and Elizabeth (Ed) Garland; brother, Raymond (Anne); sisters: Betty Clark (Orland) and Norma Wetmore; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by the mother of his children, Frances (Mosher) Connell/Gosson; sisters: Dorothy Graham, and Joan Higgins; granddaughter, Sarah Connell; infant brother, William and two infant granddaughters. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Thursday at 7 pm during visiting. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would appreciated by the family.
