Obituary of Marion A. Leach

Marion Agnes Leach of Saint John, wife of the late Arthur E. Leach, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Saint John on May 16, 1915, she was a daughter of the late James and Eleanor (Ingraham) Semple. Marion was a long time member of the former St. Paul’s (Valley) Church and a member of St. Paul’s choir for over 50 years. In her youth, Marion played the piano in church activities and other outside social functions, and sang in many massed choirs and choral groups throughout the city. She was also a member of St. Paul’s Needlework Society, and a longtime member of the Nereides Temple #78 of the Daughters of the Nile, where she held the offices of Soloist and Musician for 25 years. She was also an avid tennis and badminton player in her youth. Marion is survived by her children, James C.A. Leach (Fran) of Erb’s Cove, and Patricia M. Gilbert (Warwick) of Rothesay; a sister, Eleanor Elliot of Saint John; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as one niece and several cousins. In keeping with Marion’s wishes, a family graveside service was held. Interment took place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
