Diane Marie Crane

Obituary of Diane Grace Marie Crane

The passing of Diane Crane occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 11, 2012. Diane was born August 29, 1961 in Saint John to the late Stanley and Georgie (Davidson) London. Diane graduated from the Saint John School of Nursing in 1981. Committed to ongoing education, Diane acquired a Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing in 1996 from Brockville College, Ontario. She later completed a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Memorial University in 2010. Having held various positions throughout her 31 year nursing career, Diane’s true passion was the years she spent in the community with the VON and the Extra-Mural Program. Diane was a strong and motivated woman continuing her education while holding her job and raising her three children along the way. Diane loaned her skills and talent to her community. She held a position on the Board of Directors with River Road Co-Op, served as the President of the NB Occupational Nursing Group, and served on the National Board of Directors of COOHNA. In 2008 Diane was honored to receive the Florence Nightingale Award for Home Nursing. Throughout all of her achievements, her greatest honor was to be the mother of her three children, the light and focus of her life. Diane balanced life with travel to warm climates, leisurely walks on sandy beaches, and good books. Family and friends always found her door open for suppers and gatherings. During the past year, her door was open every Wednesday evening for pot luck ‘Wing Night’ with great food, conversation and laughter. Besides her fiancée Randy, Diane leaves behind her son, Tyler Crane; daughters: Shannon Crane (Peter MacDonald) and Pamela Crane (Mike Hamilton); the father of her children, Byron Crane; step-son, Ryan Foster; brothers: David (Anne), Donald (Evelyn), Douglas (Ann) and Daniel; sisters: Deborah Paisley (John) and Dawn Tolmacs (Steven); step-mother, Laurie London; mother-in-law, Doris Foster and several nieces and nephews. Diane’s family extends sincere appreciation and thanks for the very generous acts of kindness extended to Diane and themselves over this past year. To the team at KV Extra-Mural, friends, neighbors and childhood pals, thank you for your support and prayers.
