Obituary of Eileen Van Tassel

Eileen Van Tassel, wife of the late Charles Van Tassel, passed away on January 28, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on February 19, 1924, she was a daughter of the late James and Julia (Dunham) Ducey. Eileen worked as a secretary for the Province of New Brunswick, attended St. James Anglican Church on Broad Street, and was an excellent card player; cribbage was her favourite. Eileen is survived by her son, James (Joy) of Perth-Andover, daughter Janet (Mario) Mascitelli of Unionville, ON, grandchildren Sarah (Joe) Tompkins, Lynn (Tyson) Spencer and Kate Van Tassel, Nathan and Jessica Mascitelli, great-grandson, Logan, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Eileen was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Hargrove, Jean Daley, and her brother, James Ducey. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
