Obituary of M. Doris L. McCoy
With heavy hearts the family of Mary DORIS Louise McCoy (nee Riley), wishes to announce her passing peacefully on Wednesday February 6, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 92. Doris woke with a song in her heart each day, enjoyed music, family sing alongs and get togethers, playing cards and dancing. She also enjoyed staying connected to her Celtic roots through her music and trips to Ireland. Doris was the loving wife of the late Everett "Pat" Seymour McCoy and was pre-deceased by her son John (Jack) McCoy. Doris is survived by son Everett (Ed), wife Marg, daughters Barbara Simmons (Brian), Susan Bakewell (the late Peter), 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Theresa "Doe" Wanamaker (Reg) several nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by parents, Edward "Ned" and Louise Riley, along with her brother, Maurice; sister, Lorraine Lee (Owen) and grandson, Jody McCoy. Doris was a resident of Kings Way Care Centre where she was greatly loved and cared for. Special gratitude and appreciation to all nurses and doctors of Palliative Care and in emergency who were so caring, compassionate and informative. Donations to Kings Way Care Center would be appreciated by the family. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 9:30 am. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
